Given all of the challenges and changes that our communities are facing this year, Bike to Work Day has been revamped to become Bike to Wherever Days, a month-long celebration of bike-commuting – not just to work, but to wherever one needs to go, whether it’s the grocery store, park, or local coffee shop.
During the month of September, we will be celebrating Bike to Wherever Days by hosting a bunch of fun, safe bike-centered events throughout Napa County. You can get involved in Bike to Wherever Days by attending one (or more) of these events! All events will follow County public health guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone involved. These events include:
- Sign up for Bike to Wherever Days (All month long)
- Log miles ridden, form a team, and win prizes like Alaska Airline tickets and Timbuk2 bags just for riding your bike during the month of September! This is a great way to encourage team-building and stay connected with family, friends, and colleagues while folks are socially distancing.
- Napa Farmers Market Bike Valet (9/5 and 10/3)
- As bookends to Bike Month, we’re encouraging folks to bike to our local farmers market here in Napa with our free bike valet parking service. Our volunteers, who will be practicing social distancing and donning PPE, will be parking bikes in our secure parking facility, so riders can feel comfortable knowing that their bike will be ready and waiting for them when it’s time to head home.
- American Canyon Family Biking Workshop (9/12)
- Enjoy a fun morning of riding bikes with us at our free Family Biking Workshop in American Canyon. During this workshop, our nationally-certified instructors will cover fitting helmets and the ABCs of bike checks, bike-handling skills games, and a group ride in local neighborhoods. This is a great way to get outside and get moving with the whole family and will teach you the bike skills you need to ride safely and confidently on local roads.
- Sip and Support at Clif Family Winery (9/12-9/13)
- Support Bike to Wherever Days and enjoy delicious food and wine with our friends at Clif Family Winery at their weekend-long Sip and Support. 20% of all sales from the Clif Family Winery Bruschetteria food truck will be donated to the Napa County Bicycle Coalition, supporting encouragement programs like Bike to Wherever Days as well as free bike safety education and advocacy work. Orders can be made to enjoy on the patio, to-go, or for curbside pickup.
- St. Helena Family Biking Workshop (9/19)
- The same great morning of bikes as described above, except in St. Helena.
- Bike Your Park Day (9/26)
- Get outside and explore your local parks by bike on national Bike Your Park Day! Enter NCBC’s month-long countywide social media photo contest with the hashtag #BikeYourParkNapa for a chance to win fantastic prizes. Select parks in the county will have contactless welcome tables hosted by our awesome partners with swag bags for bicyclists, including Wetlands Edge Road in American Canyon, Crane Park in St. Helena, and Century Oaks Park in Napa.
- St. Helena Bike to Shop and Dine Day (9/30)
- Support local businesses while doing something that’s good for your health, community, and environment – riding a bike! Replace your car trip downtown with a bike ride to do some shopping or pick up dinner. Participating businesses will be hosting great deals for customers who arrive on bike.
