Bike Month

NCBC joins the nation in celebrating May as Bike Month as a wonderful opportunity to experience the benefits and simple joy of riding a bike with our Napa County residents. Each year, we organize and partner on events and programs to encourage all riders, new and experienced, to hop on their bikes a little (or a lot!) more during the month of May. Scroll through this page to see all of the events and resources we have lined up for Bike Month.

Here are some things you can do to prepare to celebrate Bike Month in May:

Pledge To Ride – Pledge to ride your bike for transportation on Bike to Work and School Day on May 14th or anytime during Bike Month to be automatically entered into our weekly drawing for great bike-related prizes. Pledge to ride here!
Bike Champion of the Year – Every year, we recognize one or two Bike Champions of the Year who inspire others to ride through their dedication to bikes as a form of transportation. 2026 nominations are closed – winners will be announced in April!

BIKE MONTH 2026 EVENTS

Napa Bikefest

Sunday, May 3rd (9 AM – 3 PM)
Oxbow Commons Park

A day-long family and community celebration of cycling, Napa Bikefest offers the North Bay’s largest bike swap meet, dozens of vendors, great music, food and drinks, contests and games for all ages, group bike rides, a kids bike rodeo, and more! All are welcome to join us for this celebration of life on two wheels.

Bike to Work and School Day (BTWSD)

Thursday, May 14th
Countywide

BTWSD celebrates the joy of starting your day with a fresh-air, wind-in-your-face, bike commute to work, school, or wherever you need to go! Every year, we partner with local groups and schools to hold Energizer Stations countywide from 7 – 9 am with free goodies and snacks to pick up during your bike commute. BTWSD is part of the regional Bay Area Bike to Work/Wherever Day program.

Calistoga Safety Day Bike Rodeo & Ride

Sunday, May 17th
Logvy Park parking lot

Join us, Calistoga Parks & Recreation, and other partner organizations at Calistoga Safety Day to learn about all things life safety, including bike safety! We’ll be hosting a kids bike rodeo followed by a family/community group bike ride around town.

BottleRock Bike Parking

Friday, May 22nd – Sunday, May 24th

NCBC is partnering with BottleRock to provide FREE bike parking on all three days of the festival! Just a short walk from the venue, we’ll be parking bikes with our volunteers at 301 1st Street (entrance at the corner of 2nd & Silverado). Don’t forget to bring a lock and bike lights for the ride home! Bicycle parking is open from 11am to 11pm during the festival.
