MLK Day Bike Trail Clean-Up

January 20, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The third Monday of January is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Each year, tens of thousands across the nation honor Dr. King’s legacy through a Day of Service, which can be thought of as “a day on, not a day off.”

Join us for our annual MLK Day of Service event, conducting trash cleanup efforts along the Napa Commuter Bike Path. Volunteers will help pick up trash along the pathway and adjacent railroad tracks.  Last year, our group of over 30 volunteers removed nearly 450 pounds of trash, including hundreds of broken bottles, cigarette butts.

Meet at 9am (coffee and donuts will be provided) at The Hub Bicycles. We will walk together to the Main St./Central Ave. entrance to the Vine Trail and split up into two groups – one heading south to Soscol and one heading north to California.

We will be cleaning both the trail and the railroad right-of-way. A representative from the Wine Train will be on-site and provide a safety review for working along active rail lines. For those who have the City of Napa app installed on their phones, we will provide directions for how to report issues such as graffiti or broken pavement.

What to Bring?
Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, work gloves, and a reuseable water bottle. Sections of the cleanup area may be muddy, so plan accordingly.

Questions? Feel free to email us at info@napabike.org or call (707) 258-6317.
